Part 2 focused on Joseph Atwill’s assertion that the vector through which the occult ideology of Theosophy “invented” the NSDAP was the early DAP founding member Dietrich Eckart. Important to Atwill’s theory was Eckart’s death bed quote, which we traced to its ultimate source— the Akashic Record. It amounted to complete anti-German war propaganda and atrocity stories concocted by author of the book The Spear of Destiny Ravenscroft, whose “mentor” was the Jewish Dr. Stein no less.
We also looked at the epiphany experience Hitler apparently had as a young man in Vienna in the presence of his friend August Kubizek. Atwill cites it as an example of occult Theosophist influence over Hitler at the time by Stein, but Kubizek’s book itself attributes it to the influence of the character Rienzi in the Wagner play the two had just attended.
In Part 3 we must go backward in Atwill’s treatise before the Eckart section, to address 4 other claims Atwill makes.
From Whence Came the NSDAP Salute?
Atwill: “Francis Bellamy created the Pledge of Allegiance that is still performed in the United States. As he invented it the Pledge was recited with a straight armed military salute that was extended outward to point at the flag. The Bellamys then influenced the National Socialist German Workers Party in its rituals, dogma, and symbols.”
Again Atwill claims the Bellamys were one avenue through which Theosophy “invented” the NSDAP. Here we will follow the source Atwill links to in his statement:
”Following their development of the term and practices in the US they brought National Socialism to Germany in the late nineteenth century.” It is:
Marotta, David John, “Looking Backward on Socialism: Fulfilled By Different Countries,” Marotta Wealth Management, October 11 2019.
Under section “Germany” we see: “…the full name is ‘The National Socialist Germany Workers’ Party.’ It is a direct thought child of the Bellamy cousin’s National Socialism.” Why Marotta, a personal investment firm, is writing on NS history is mostly a mystery, until we see that current President David John’s father George had “twenty-six years of foreign affairs service with the federal government in Washington, D.C., and overseas.” “He served on the White House staff as deputy director of the Public Affairs Staff…” and worked at USAID, a notorious CIA front. “Marotta worked in the office of the secretary of defense on international security policy.” “During the eight years of the Eisenhower administration, he served on the staff of the National Security Council…” This was from the mid-1950s, when “denazification” was still being imposed (as it still is today, and Atwill may be participating). It could explain the current attempts by Marotta to equate Bellamy’s Communist ideology with genuine National Socialism.
To its credit, not a single one of the 17 members of Marotta’s “Our Team” appears Jewish by name or features—a rarity in both investing and anti-NSDAP propaganda. Most appear exceedingly young.
I searched the Archive version of Bellamy’s book Looking Backward, and found no mention of the term “National Socialism,” nor even of the term “Socialism” on its own. 31 mentions of the term “National” appear, and in sampling most of them they refer to a Communist state-owned approach, not an NS privately owned but state regulated approach, which is diametrically opposed.
Remember, Looking Backward was first published in 1889, a full 15 years before the first appearance of National Socialism as a phrase, when Rudolf Jung codified it out of the struggles of German railroad workers in the Sudetenland in 1904. I challenge Mr. Atwill to produce a single mention by the Bellamys of the phrase “National Socialism.” I maintain that the claim the Bellamys had any influence on National Socialism as an ideology, much less “invented” it, is spurious.
Did the Bellamys have any influence or even connection with the NSDAP’s use of their iconic salute? All we have in Atwill’s essay is the second sentence in the quote that began this section. Atwill says: “Those wishing more documentation concerning the Bellamys’ connection to Nazism should review Rex Curry’s website.” I am wishing more documentation, since Atwill’s claim is not documentation at all, but an unsupported declaration. We are not obliged to seek out documentation beyond what he provides directly in his essay, to refute him in this matter of the NSDAP salute. But let’s, shall we?
Before that however, an F. Bellamy reworked an earlier version of the Pledge of Allegiance presented by Captain George T. Balch, a veteran of the Civil War. “An alternative theory is that the pledge was submitted to an 1890 patriotic competition in The Youth's Companion by a 13-year-old Kansas schoolboy, coincidentally named Frank E. Bellamy. Fred R. Shapiro regards (this) discovery as favouring Frank E. Bellamy rather than Francis Bellamy as the originator.” (Sam Roberts, “We Know the Pledge. It’s Author, Maybe Not.,” New York Times, April 2 2022) Shapiro, non-Jew, was an accomplished legal scholar, archivist and librarian who specialized in tracking the accurate sources of famous quotes. My confidence is with Shapiro.
I confess the search for Rex Curry’s actual words and statements, separate from multiple sites not his own, was futile. So let us refer only to the source Atwill provides: “Francis Bellamy caused the Nazi salute & Nazi behavior in the USA: Rex Curry”
“Rex Curry unmasked Francis Bellamy and showed that the U.S.'s Pledge of Allegiance was the origin of the Nazi salute and Nazi behavior.” The first source mentioned is “the book authored by supermodel Lin Xun entitled “Come Inside My Head: Karl Marx,” of which we read (on another Rex Curry page): “Each book is personally handled, wrapped, and mailed by Lin Xun (in the nude)… In this book, Lin spanks history's bottom, leaving red hand prints. Like a true patriot fashionista, she uses the flag as her own personal butt floss. The flag never complained.” Well, I am. Apparently the cover of the book is a close-up of the “super model’s” butt in a tiny red white and blue thong bikini. I will spare us the picture. This looks more like Jewish pornography than any credible history source.
But back to Curry, or actually another author who presents Curry: “… explained by the author Ian Tinny in his book: ‘Hitler Was A Communist.’” But Atwill says Hitler was a Theosophist! Anyway, here’s what Tinny says Curry said about Hitler. I will respond from my current understanding without citation, to avoid the tedium:
“Karl Marx’s anti-Semitism (and his Christian background) inspired Hitler’s anti-Semitism and Hitler’s use of Christian cross symbolism including the SWASTIKA“
-KH: Marx (real name Moses Mordechai Levy) was a Jew and descendant of Rabbis. His Communist screed was basically an expression of Talmudism. Hitler’s antisemitism was inspired by his encounter with Jews in Vienna as a young man (explained in Mein Kampf), his knowledge of how Communist Jews instigated the “Stab in the Back” that demoralized German soldiers at the front during WWI, and Hitler’s knowledge of how Jews ruined Germany and its people during the Weimar period.“The Swastika was also used to represent ‘S’ letter shapes for ‘SOCIALISM’ (Marx’s underlying dogma). Marx was a Nazi and Hitler was a Communist.”
-KH: We have already seen the Swastika is far older than the ideology of Socialism, and German National Socialism was fundamentally opposite of Marxist International Socialism. It is not necessary to address Marx as a “Nazi” and Hitler as a “Communist.” It is absurd on its face and if Rex Curry asserted it, it discredits him by itself.“Hitler’s symbol is the reason why Hitler renamed his political party from DAP to NSDAP - ‘National Socialist German Workers Party’ - because he needed the word ‘Socialist’ in his party's name so that Hitler could use swastikas as ‘S’-letter shaped logos for ‘SOCIALIST’ as the party's emblem.”
-KH: This logic is idiotic and needs total correcting. Hitler could have used the swastika regardless of use of the name Socialist, and vice versa. To say the swastika is a depiction of two "S" letters crossed, in a desperate attempt to refer to “Socialism” is beyond dumb. The swastika was a symbol in use by the ancient Aryans and others long before there was a letter “S” or the concept of Socialism.“Marx, Hitler and their supporters self-identified as ‘socialists’ by the very word in voluminous speeches and writings. The term ‘Socialist’ appears throughout Mein Kampf as a self-description by Hitler.”
-KH: So? Marxist Socialism and National Socialism were fundamentally different in ideology and application. In this period of industrialization, the shift from monarchical aristocracies to socialist nations was well underway in many nations. Marxist Socialism was a grift and deception for totalitarian rule, National Socialism was genuine and an open advocacy for benevolent autarchy with a free market meritocracy.“Hitler never called himself a ‘Nazi.’ There was no ‘Nazi Germany.’ There was no ‘Nazi Party.’
- KH: Partially false, but close enough. The other N-word was invented by Konrad Heiden, Jewish journalist attempting to defame and insult the NS leadership during their election campaigns. Besides: So? This is a great revelation of Curry? Weak.“The term ‘swastika’ never appears in the original Mein Kampf.”
- KH: False. It appears 5 times on p. 432, Stalag edition. Stalag is original enough.
I am baffled at the very existence of anyone named Rex Curry. On his Amazon books page, we see all of the books attributed to Curry are actually authored by others, including something called the Dead Writers Club and the Pointer Institute (of porn star Lin Xun).
Curry does have an About the Author page—though so far he is not an author. Indeed most of the mentions in Curry’s “About the Author” page are attributed to other authors as well. One is Jonah Goldberg, in his book Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left, From Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning. Goldberg is of course Jewish, a best selling author of kosher-servitive critiques of liberalism, and whose mother advised the illegal recording of Monica Lewinsky’s (Jewish) statements and saving her dress for forensic analysis in the Bill Clinton scandal. We must never trust Jews writing on behalf of or informed by Rex Curry on topics of National Socialism. They are almost always entirely anti-NSDAP war propagandists and defamation/demonization artists selling atrocity stories. I am beginning to suspect Atwill is as well.
The Author bio does mention that Curry wrote select chapters in other books. It does provide a picture, so perhaps Curry does exist after all (though pictures can hide a thousand words too). I searched through a half dozen results for the search term “Professor Rex Curry” and found none that were directly about Curry himself, but partially about him by others. He does have a Linkedin page, but it has no entries. It says Curry is an attorney at Rex Curry & Associates, but I can find no website or even mention of this law firm. It was supposedly founded in 1984, so is Curry dead and the law firm out of business? Who is Rex Curry anyway?
True Origins of the “Hitler Salute”
Throughout my 7 years of study of NS history, I had often heard the NSDAP salute, adopted by almost the entirety of the German people, called the “Roman Salute.” It now appears to me that the Romans never employed this gesture, at least not on a widespread basis. European art throughout the 19th century developed this myth however, and it became loosely associated with the Romans.
The Germans most likely did not incorporate this gesture from the ancient Romans, and not just because the ancient Goths, a Germanic people, fought against the Romans. The Italian Fascists used the gesture, even before Mussolini’s March on Rome in 1022.
“D'Annunzio… appropriated the salute when he occupied Fiume in 1919. D'Annunzio has been described as the John the Baptist of Italian Fascism as virtually the entire ritual of Fascism was invented by D'Annunzio during his occupation of Fiume and his leadership of the "Italian Regency of Carnaro”. (From The Anatomy of Fascism by Robert Paxton). When Mussolini gained leadership, “by December 1, 1925, all state civil administrators were required to use it.” (Fascist spectacle: the aesthetics of power in Mussolini's Italy, Falasca-Zamponi, Simonetta (2000))
Put simply, Hitler and the National Socialists in their admiration and alignment with Italian Fascism, gradually adopted use of the gesture too for their own movement and Party. It was made official for party members in 1926. “The compulsory use of the Hitler salute for all public employees followed a directive issued by Reich Minister of the Interior Wilhelm Frick on July 13, 1933.” The Wehrmacht continued with its own customs until after the assassination attempt on Hitler in 1944, after which the Hitler Salute was ordered for the Wehrmacht as well. (The Hitler Myth: Image and Reality in the 3rd Reich, Ian Kershaw, 2001)
Nowhere in this history does Theosophy offer the slightest influence on the German NS use of the gesture. Atwill’s reference to “Professor” ( of what? where?) Curry makes claims without citation or evidence. Here we see historical evidence for the trajectory of the salute gesture from Italian Fascism to German National Socialism as the proper path.
In Part 3B we will examine what influence Theosophy had on the NSDAP through the Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion —if any.
For some reason my gut has always told me not to Trust Atwill. I’m interested in discovering why Tim does. Tim would do well to find a new partner for his powers and principalities slot.
Thankyou, a very interesting and informative article. I find the book by Acarya S, (D.M. Murdoch), surely a post PhD level study (I have studied comparative religion at university degree level, and this book makes that degree course look like a nursery book for 3 year olds) - The Christ Conspiracy -The Greatest Story Ever Sold -Revised Edition https://www.amazon.com/Christ-Conspiracy-Greatest-Story-Revised/dp/0990888517 remarkably enlightening and liberating.
Hitler said that Christianity was invented by sick minds, he was entirely correct, he knew that the German people would not be ready to renounce Christianity just yet, and thus publicly praised Christianity on occasion in order to bind the German people together at a crucial time without trying to engage them in too much social progress at one time in case he fragmented them. Hitler fully intended privately to eventually lift humanity beyond this actually Jewish-based con-trip.
The Jewish Piso family mentioned by Reverend Taylor in 1829 in 'The Diegesis' created the fake Christian religion based on stolen elements from countless earlier religions, and what they purported to Emperor Constantine to be an intended link religion to bond the disparate cultures and religions of all the different Roman Empire nations together was in fact nothing of the sort, with statements that a man's greatest enemies would now be found among the members of his own household for instance, being pure poison in actuality, but of course, the Jews had an ulterior motive since the Romans had tried to suppress the Jewish religion earlier, and what they devised in reality was pure poison designed to ultimately send Gentile peoples completely insane and destroy their cultures and their nations, and even make them kill each other, as in the 30 years' war in Europe that wiped out 30% of the entire German population in Germany for instance, and also gravely affected several other nations, killing millions of people in a silly Jewish-instigated conflict over Catholicism versus Protestantism, both silly versions of a silly Jewish psy-op in the first place, and while Acarya S very briefly makes one or two comments that are not complimentary about National Socialism, I think one can brush those aside understanding that politics was not really her forte or intended remit here anyway, when reading the immense wealth of research on the origins of Judaism, Islam and Christianity, the results are simply staggering, a book truly wealth worth reading, I like to think that if the author had expanded her research still further, she would have naturally been a true National Socialist.
